I passed my oral dissertation examination!!!! I am a doctor x 1 now!

I am thrilled to announce that as of Monday, June 21, 2021, I successfully defended my dissertation, “Primary Care Provider PrEP Prescribing Practices: Southern United States.” That was an almost three hour public and private examination but I did it!All requirements for my PhD in Nursing & Healthcare Innovation at the University of Missouri have been satisfied and I can now start making the mental transition to medical school!

None of us achieves great things without a village and I would not have accomplished this incredible feat without my tribe. First, I thank God for blessing me with the strength to chase after my dreams. Next, I thank my parents for cultivating a deep love of learning. I would be negligent if I didn’t speak on all of the love and support that my wife, provided over the last 15 years. Whether it was staying up late to teach me the nuances of APA 6th Edition when I was in undergrad, searching for a physician for me to shadow because all of the doctors in our local area had said “No”, or staying up with me each night for the last month as we edited my dissertation document and prepared for todays defense, I most assuredly would not be here if not for you. 💯 To the rest of my family and friends, I’ve not forgotten about any of you. Each of you who has supported me along this journey has contributed in no small part, to my successes as a husband, scientist-scholar, and future physician.

Thank you all. I look forward to the next chapter of my journey and I’m thrilled that you’ll all have a front row seat to what comes next!
